Illustration Friday: "Sacrifice"
Here are two quickies I did today for "Sacrifice".
First, here's a drawing inspired by Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaid's Tale" , which I just read. Nothing like a little future-dystopic fiction to get the creative juices flowing! Anyway, this is "Offred" (shudder) in the Commander's study, getting her Scrabble-and-handcream on (both contraband in this society, of course). For those who haven't read it, she and the other women in the novel are basically living in a constant state of enforced sacrifice.

Anyway. On a lighter note, here's my husband, recent (and continuing) victim of a self-imposed exile: the South Beach Diet.(those are supposed to be french fries, his favorite)

Inetersting combination, handcream and scrabble? Is there any reason, or should I just read it myself? Good luck to your hubby.
I could totally get to those fries through the bars.
Yes, but WILL you? Therein lies the sacrifice.
As for the handcream and
Scrabble... it's kind of a long story, but in Creepy Society of the Future they're total black market, along with...well, just about everything else. One of the higher-ups - her 'master', really -starts inviting her into his lair to play Scrabble every night and she ends up begging him for some handcream eventually.
